Networking at it’s Finest: The EmpowHer Hour

Updated: Nov 19, 2024

Hey Business Bestie,

Welcome back to another "Let's Talk Business" blog where we discuss all things BUSINESS! Instead of sharing my thoughts on a particular business topic, I want to share my experience and introduce you all to the AMAZING women I met at the EmpowHer Hour networking event I attended this past Wednesday. This event was hosted by Tiffany Rene of The Whole Heart Foundation which is a foundation that focuses on changing the lives of women in many different aspects in our lives.

This amazing event was just one of many hosted by Ms. Tiffany. I originally met her last year at her annual Whole You Women's Expo. That event was phenomenal! It was a mental health event that serviced 100 women. Not to mention the event hosted loads of small business vendors and amazing speakers. I was there on a mission to connect and interview as many businesswomen as possible. Of course, I had the pleasure of interviewing Tiffany and after we stayed connected via social media.

Earlier this year we reconnected when she invited me on to do a local news promo for this year's Whole You Women's Expo. This year event was just as amazing as last year. I met some amazing women and saw women that I have worked with and connected with before over the years. And of course, I did on the spot interviews with some of the vendors that was there showcasing their products. I am sure next year will be even better.

Now let's fast forward to Wednesday and talk about the EmpowHer Hour! OMG! The connections I made was surreal. I even picked up a potential client. Through my interviews and conversations, I got to know a few businesswomen that was there networking as well. When I walked in, I was greeted by the lovely Ms. Tiffany herself. She handed me a name tag, and 5 clothing pins for a game that was played throughout the events.

As I started to walk around, my first vendor table and businesswoman I connected with was Ms. Nekea Sanders of Urgent Lab Services. Her table stood out to me because I saw this game wheel and had to find out what it was about. Now I have been to COUNTLESS networking events that have companies like hers there but I have NEVER seen one create a game to not only engage people but to also help them! #VerySmart

So the idea of the game is to spin the wheel and whatever health test it lands on that’s the test she would do on you. I landed on “Blood Pressure” which means she took my blood pressure. Now I’m going to be honest... I really thought my numbers was going to be high on account of the MANY different things I stress about in my life lol BUT surprisingly it wasn’t (Thank God). I had the pleasure of interviewing her at the event and she said that STRESS is the #1 KILLER AMONG WOMEN 🤯🥺 You can view a snippet of the interview below and be sure to watch the rest on my interview Instagram at @spotlightwithKL. I want you all to GO FOLLOW HER BUSINESS NOW https://www.facebook.com/share/15RqjAZfu4/?mibextid=LQQJ4d and use her lab services. SHE IS MOBILE!!!

After meeting her, I then met Shamari Gibson of Mara’s Light House which is a mental health counseling service! Her practice has 14 providers and she provides individual, couples and family counseling. During her interview she explained how you can actually take FMLA through your job or company insurance for mental health days and insurance of course covers counseling services. You can view her interview here and book her services with the information below. You can also follow her business on social media @maraslighthouse.

After speaking with Ms. Gibson, I had the pleasure of reconnecting with Mrs. Kiara Key Reeves; an amazing realtor right here in Jacksonville, FL. The first time I met Mrs. Reeves was during a news promo for the Whole You Expo. Kiara, a few others and myself went to lunch and gotten to know each other more so when I saw her at the event I had to interview her. During her interview she talked about when is the right time to buy a house, tips on securing your home buying future and some great suggestions for those looking to buy (especially for veterans). You can watch her interview on my Spotlight with KL Instagram page!

By this time, I had to take a break and relax. More people were coming in and the place started to crowd out. I enjoyed the music and sat at the bar and really took in the atmosphere because it was nothing but GOOD VIBES! Everyone looked amazing and people were Networking and getting to know each other and that’s what I love to see. Before I left I decided to do a couple more interviews and that’s when I met Ms. Denita.

Ksandra Stanfield and Denita Carter

I so enjoyed my conversation with Ms. Denita and of course I interviewed her. She is a IT MASTER and trainer, life coach, educator and travel enthusiast! We talked about the many different ways she can turn her passion into passive income to give her more time to travel and to make money all at the same time. We also talked about her mission to help others and why she do it. This lady is a BEAST in the tech world and I can tell an amazing life coach just by our conversation.

I can’t wait to work with her 💜 If you need a life coach, tutor for your IT CAREER or want to take a new career in IT reach out to her via email

My final interview was with Roneisha (ROJO) JoQuin; licensed notary, makeup artist and florist. I’ve followed her online for some time now but to meet her in person was a real joy. She truly loves what she do for people through her businesses and want to connect with MORE PEOPLE! Along with her partner they host events that bring people together socially and business wise like their upcoming “Vibez & Vision Board” event. Together they are helping our community stay connected.

Overall this event was one to remember. As always Ms. Tiffany know how to throw a great shindig! I was able to meet and interview AMZING business women and was able to gain a client. THAT is how networking is done! Meeting new people, build connections and forming business relationships.
