Welcome to the first installment of our special Wednesday series, where we shine a spotlight on inspiring business owners and entrepreneurs. And guess what? Today, the spotlight is on yours truly! 🎈 I'm super excited to share a bit about my journey with you all, so let's dive in!
I'm a 28 year old Jacksonville, FL native, raised by an amazing family of entrepreneurs—my mom, grandma, and grandpa were all business owners! My mom kicked off her entrepreneurial adventure when I was in sixth grade, starting a print business that I eagerly helped with. We began by selling Christian apparel and gifts at church events, and when Obama ran for office, we pivoted to political wear. Let me tell you, we were on fire! 🔥 That success led to opening a store at a well-known flea market in Jacksonville, and the rest is history!
Now, fast forward to today. I'm a proud single mom of two beautiful kiddos. My journey into motherhood began just before I graduated high school, and despite a high-risk pregnancy, my daughter was born perfectly healthy. She's my miracle and my motivation every day. 💪
I've always had that entrepreneurial spirit, even back in the day when I was making $400 a week selling candy! 😄 In 2015, while in college, I launched Kay Laurice as a virtual assistant business. Over time, I realized that what businesses really needed was marketing guidance, so I switched my major to marketing and business management. Since then, Kay Laurice has blossomed into a full-fledged marketing agency, offering design and printing services and helping countless businesses thrive. Through my workshops and seminars I teach entrepreneurs the importance of marketing and how to implement it into their business the RIGHT WAY!
But wait, there's more! I'm also the CEO of Premium Live, a TV streaming platform that offers diverse entertainment and doubles as a marketing tool for my clients to advertise on TV. 📺 Along with Premium Live is my show called “Premium Exclusive” which was created to highlight important news and special events! Recently we covered the J White Scammer Scandal that broke the internet at the end of 2023. I interviewed a few of the victims including business owner Rayvon Griffin Bright.
On top of that, I “moon light” as a FOOD TRUCK CASHIER/EXPO PERSON from time to time for a few local food trucks here in Jacksonville. Now I’m sure you are asking why? Well because I love working in the food serving industry. Before going into business for myself I always held TWO JOBS and one was always a waitress gig. I enjoyed it a lot so much that one day when I was at my client event creating content, they needed help on the food truck so with my experience, I hopped on and lend my expertise. I'm currently writing my first book, set to be announced in early 2025. This book will speak on my personal and professional experiences from the last (almost) 10 years. Giving insight and motivation to entrepreneurs like myself. And of course, there's this blog, where we're all about helping entrepreneurs achieve greatness. 🌟
Whew, it's been quite the journey!
Before I wrap up, I want to share FIVE tips that have and will continue to guide me along the way:
Keep God First!
Don’t expect those close to you to always support or understand your dreams.
Patience is key—people don't always read or follow instructions.
Invest in marketing from the get-go; waiting for your business to make money before marketing is a no-go!
Never give up, even when things seem slow—it'll pick up eventually. 🚀
